If joint pain, arthritis, or a nagging tendon injury is slowing you down, the right injection can calm the pain and inflammation without surgery. OS1 offers several types of orthopedic injections, and in most cases your provider can evaluate you and give the injection during the same walk-in visit. No appointment, and no referral needed to be seen.
Corticosteroid injections, usually called cortisone shots, reduce pain and inflammation in a joint or around a tendon. They are a common treatment for arthritis, tendonitis, and bursitis. A cortisone injection is done during your visit.
For knee osteoarthritis, there is an extended-release form of cortisone that releases medication slowly into the joint over roughly three months. Compared with a standard cortisone shot, it is designed to deliver a steadier, longer window of pain relief from a single injection. Because the medication stays mostly inside the joint and releases gradually, it may also be worth discussing if you are managing diabetes and want to limit the blood sugar spike that can follow a traditional cortisone shot. Your OS1 provider can talk through whether it is a fit based on your exam, imaging, and goals.
Viscosupplementation, also called gel shots, uses hyaluronic acid to cushion and lubricate a joint. It is most often used for knee osteoarthritis, to ease pain and help the joint move more comfortably. Gel injections are also done during your visit.
PRP, or platelet-rich plasma, uses a small sample of your own blood, spun down to concentrate the platelets, then injected into the injured area to support the body’s natural healing. It is used for certain joint and tendon conditions. Because PRP takes a blood draw and preparation, it is scheduled as a return visit rather than done the same day. PRP is a cash-pay service.
Many OS1 injections are placed with ultrasound guidance. The provider uses live imaging to guide the needle to the exact spot, which improves accuracy and helps the injection work as intended.
Walk in, and an OS1 provider examines your injury. If a cortisone or gel injection is the right step, you receive it during that visit. PRP is the exception and is scheduled as a separate return visit. Your provider will go over any aftercare with you.
No. OS1 is walk-in, and you do not need a referral to be seen. Cortisone and gel injections are typically given during that same visit.
No. PRP requires a blood draw and preparation, so it is scheduled as a return visit.
They are used for joint pain, arthritis, tendonitis, bursitis, and knee osteoarthritis, among other orthopedic conditions. Your provider will tell you whether an injection is a good option for your injury.
A standard cortisone shot typically eases symptoms for several weeks. Gel injections and extended-release cortisone are designed for longer windows, often measured in months. Results vary by person and by joint.
