OS1 Hoover clinic FAQ

Do I need an appointment at OS1 Hoover?

No. The Hoover clinic is walk-in. Come in during open hours and you will be seen, no booking required. If you prefer to call ahead, dial (205) 352-2911.

Do I need a referral to be seen?

No. You do not need a referral from another doctor to come to OS1. If your injury needs imaging or a specialist, your OS1 provider arranges it from the visit.

What insurance does the Hoover clinic accept?

OS1 Hoover accepts most major plans, including Blue Cross Blue Shield of Alabama, Aetna, Cigna, and UnitedHealthcare. Self-pay rates are available if you are uninsured. Call (205) 352-2911 to confirm your specific plan before you come in.

Can I get an MRI the same day?

It depends on the day’s schedule and whether your insurance requires prior authorization. Hoover has open MRI on-site, so when your provider orders one we schedule it as soon as possible. Plans that require prior authorization can take a few business days to approve.

Do you treat kids and young athletes?

Yes. OS1 Hoover treats patients of all ages, from kids and young athletes to adults. The open MRI is less intimidating for kids than a closed-bore machine, and we coordinate referral to a pediatric subspecialist for the rare cases that need one.

What if my injury needs surgery?

OS1 is a non-surgical orthopedic clinic. If your injury needs a surgeon, we evaluate and stabilize it during your visit and connect you with the right specialist. You leave with a diagnosis and a clear next step, not a guess.

Should I come to OS1 Hoover or go to the ER?

For most orthopedic injuries, a walk-in orthopedic clinic is the better first stop than a hospital ER. The wait is shorter, the provider treats musculoskeletal injuries all day, and the cost is a fraction of an ER bill. For a life-threatening emergency, open fracture, heavy bleeding, head injury, or chest pain, go to the ER or call 911.
