20 minute office visit. Drawn from your own blood. No general anesthesia. Most patients drive themselves home and return to light activity within 48 hours.
What Is PRP?
PRP stands for platelet-rich plasma. Platelets are the cells in your blood that show up first when tissue is damaged, releasing growth factors that signal your body to repair, rebuild, and reduce inflammation.
A PRP injection concentrates those platelets and delivers them directly to a damaged joint, tendon, or ligament, jump-starting the healing response in tissue that often gets too little blood flow on its own.
Why patients choose PRP: it uses your own biology, not a foreign drug. There is no steroid, no opioid, and minimal downtime.
How a PRP Visit Works at OS1
Conditions OS1 Treats with PRP
PRP is most effective for soft-tissue injuries and early-to-moderate arthritis, especially when conservative care has stalled out. Common cases we see:
Initial soreness for 24 to 72 hours as the inflammatory healing response kicks in. This is expected and usually managed with ice and acetaminophen.
Noticeable relief within 2 to 4 weeks for most patients, with continued improvement out to 12 weeks as tissue remodels.
Lasting effect. Many patients get 9 to 18 months of relief from a single injection. Some conditions respond best to a series of 2 or 3 injections, spaced 4 to 6 weeks apart.
Results vary based on the condition treated, severity of damage, age, activity level, and other health factors. Your OS1 provider will give you a realistic expectation before any procedure.
OS1 Kennesaw offers a high-concentration PRP protocol that delivers a substantially higher dose of platelets and growth factors than a standard preparation. It is sometimes referred to as a “stem cell” alternative because of the dose strength, though the cells are still your own platelets, not stem cells.
This protocol is most often recommended for advanced joint arthritis or chronic tendon damage where a standard PRP dose may not be enough. Ask any OS1 provider if you are a candidate. We can refer between locations when appropriate.

Why Patients Choose OS1 for PRP
PRP is a cash-pay service. Insurance does not currently cover PRP for orthopedic conditions. Because pricing may vary based on the type of PRP treatment recommended, the number of injections needed, and the location where treatment is provided, final pricing will be discussed and confirmed during your evaluation.
Standard PRP injection: Includes consult and follow-up visit.
High-concentration PRP (Kennesaw): Includes consult and follow-up visit.
Multi-injection package: Series of 3 injections, when clinically recommended.

Many patients see meaningful improvement after one injection. Some conditions respond best to a series of two or three, spaced four to six weeks apart. Your provider will recommend a plan after evaluation.
Plan to rest the treated joint for forty-eight to seventy-two hours. Most patients return to light activity within a few days and full training within two to three weeks.
PRP uses concentrated platelets from your own blood, not stem cells. Some clinics use the term “stem cell” loosely to describe high-concentration biologic injections. At OS1 Kennesaw we offer a high-concentration PRP protocol that delivers a stronger dose of growth factors. Ask your provider whether it is right for your case.
PRP may not be appropriate for patients on blood thinners, with active infection, certain blood disorders, or active cancer. Your OS1 provider will review your history before recommending treatment.
PRP is generally well tolerated because it uses your own biological material. Side effects are usually limited to short-term soreness, mild swelling, or bruising at the injection site. Serious complications are rare.
PRP may not be appropriate for patients on blood-thinning medications, with active infection, certain blood disorders, or active malignancy. Your OS1 provider will review your full history before recommending treatment.
